RICE Restaurant terrace at dusk with fairy lights

RICE Bar + Restaurant

Southern Thai soul under a kite-tile roof.

Sixty seats on the terrace, sunset included. Same chef for twenty-four years, same recipes, same view — only the fruit changes with the season.

Three moments

Morning sun, poolside noon, terrace dusk.

RICE is one kitchen that runs three different moods across the day. The menu stays up all day — what changes is the light.

Floating breakfast tray by the pool
07:00Breakfast

The floating breakfast moved to the top tier in March — the morning sun hits the water at seven sharp and the view straight ahead is the open Andaman. Set A is the full spread; Set B is lighter. Or skip the tray and sit in the Sala.

Thai lunch spread — pad thai, fried chicken, egg on rice
12:00Poolside

The all-day menu starts at eleven. Order pad thai or a club sandwich from the lounger. Fresh juices are squeezed from the Phuket day market, and Thai iced tea is made properly — with condensed milk and a long pour.

RICE restaurant exterior at night — teak pavilion under the Thai roof
18:30Dinner

Sixty seats on the terrace, sunset included. Max runs the same kitchen he has run for twenty-four years — the Thai dishes have not changed, the Western side keeps one eye on what works at altitude. Happy hour is 17:00–19:00, cocktails half price.

From Max's kitchen

Five dishes we would order ourselves.

Twenty-four years in the same kitchen. These are the dishes that stayed on the menu because guests asked for them again and again.

Pad Thai Goong SodMost ordered dish on the menu

Pad Thai Goong Sod

ผัดไทยกุ้งสด

Fresh prawn, tamarind, palm sugar — the original, not the tourist version. Wrapped in egg crepe, served with lime, crushed peanut, and the three condiment spoons.

Also worth ordering

Tom Yum Goong

ต้มยำกุ้ง

Made from scratch every lunch service. Galangal, lemongrass, kaffir, bird's eye chilli, prawn. Clear broth, not the creamy hotel version.

Pla Yang Takhrai

ปลาย่างตะไคร้

Whole fish stuffed with lemongrass, scored, grilled over charcoal. The dish Max would order for himself.

Massaman Nua

มัสมั่นเนื้อ

Beef braised four hours in a curry of cardamom, cinnamon and star anise. Southern Thailand's slow-cooking masterpiece — gentle heat, deep sweetness.

Bua Loy

บัวลอย

Pandan and taro rice dumplings floating in warm coconut cream — the dessert your Thai grandmother would have made. Soft, nostalgic, unforgettable.

ข้าว · The RICE Menu

A menu written like a letter home.
